Come make ANYTHING in our tiny tiny kitchen to serve our customers: mud pies, real pies, arias, applesauce, paintings, puppets, pizzas, dinner theater, dances. All restaurant “diners” will pay by donation. “Cooks” - please email us in advance to reserve your kitchen time. We also need “wait” staff performers, so feel free to offer such services any time.

Check out this theme's CALENDAR.
You, yes you, can come and make stuff for the theme here on site in the arterrarium anytime we're open. We've got some tools and some meager art supplies on hand for you to use, or you can bring your own (we're not rich). If you'd like to perform something in the space, make a larger-scale project, or do an ongoing project, give us a holler. We'll put you on the calendar.
Frankenart mart labs creates art experiments, projects, and products for every show. Many of them have participatory components for folks to engage with on the spot. Stop by and see what we're cooking, or check out the PROJECTS page to get a sneak peek.
Or perhaps you are in dire need of some frankenart parts and services. We offer participatory project-based playshops for your site, state or self; catered, collaborative commissionary missions; and site-specific interactive installations. All for the low low price of one of our Billustrations.
Frankenart mart is a participatory, always in progress, crudley hewn, conceptual art-in-practice store located in the Inner Richmond district of San Francisco. The best way to learn about the mart is to come visit us, but here's the the crux of the matter:
Frankenart hosts a theme for 3 months that is open to everyone's participation and response. Art, writing, music, dance, performance, lectures, ongoing projects, food - you name it - we welcome it as long as it responds to the theme. Our themed shows grow as more people participate, collaborate, create and exchange.
For no apparent reason, we host a Hot Dog Day once a month. Here are the Hot Dog Day DATES. Reuben and Zeke, the cat emperors who rule the premises, do not cook the hot dogs.
